Kenneth Burhanna, Kent State University’s 2015-2016 Provost’s Fellow and assistant dean of engagement and outreach for University Libraries, is one of the 17 top managers of academic research libraries selected for UCLA’s 2016 Senior Fellows Program.

Marcia Lei Zeng, Ph.D., School of Library and Information Science, and Julaine Clunis, student in the School of Library and Information Science, (with Vladimir Alexiev) presented “Innovative Use of Knowledge Organization Systems (KOS) that are Published as Linked Open Data (LOD)” at the first Asian Networked Knowledge Systems Workshop.

Marcia Lei Zeng and Yin Zhang, School of Library and Information Science, presented (with Hongshan Li and Serhiy Polyakov) “Exploring Smart Data Approaches to the History of Innovation and Invention at Liquid Crystal Institute at Kent State University,” on a Digital Humanities Panel at the 2015 Asian Digital Library conference in December 2015 in Seoul, Korea.

Alumna Maja Zumer, M.L.S. ’93, and Marcia Lei Zeng, Ph.D., School of Library and Information Science, presented “Application of FRBR and FRSAD to Classification Systems,” at the 5th International UDC Seminar: Classification and Authority Control: Expanding Resource Discovery, in October 2015 in Lisbon, Portugal.

Richard (Rick) Feinberg, Department of Anthropology, presented “Development, Aloha, and Non-Giving Among Polynesian Outlier Communities” at the Association for Social Anthropology in Oceania in San Diego, California, on Feb. 12, 2016.

Leisa Gibbons, School of Library and Information Science, was awarded the Australian Council of Professors and Heads of School in Information Systems (ACPHIS) Ph.D. Medal for her doctoral thesis.
