Kent Dance Ensemble presents "No Permission Needed" Concert April 8-10

Kent, OH – Kent State University’s School of Theatre and Dance continues its 2021-2022 production season with the Kent Dance Ensemble: No Permission Needed. The concert will be presented in the E. Turner Stump Theatre located in the Center for the Performing Arts, 1325 Theatre Drive, Kent, OH 44242. The concert series runs Fri., April 8 and Sat., April 9 at 7:30 pm and Sun., April 10 at 2:00 pm.

The Kent Dance Ensemble (KDE) is Kent State University's pre-professional dance company under the artistic direction of Gregory King, associate professor of dance. KDE will perform three world and two company premieres by guest choreographers Hope Boykin, Amy Hall Garner, Stefanie Batten Bland, and artistic director, Gregory King. The dancers will also perform “At What Cost,” which premiered at the 2022 American College Dance Association, in Athens Ohio, and received honorary mention for the Gala. 

The Kent Dance Ensemble: No Permission Needed production team includes student artistic directors Sarah Vah and Alexandra Cummings, lighting design by guest Margaret Peebles, costume design by Juliana Beltrán, Marissa Leigh Thompson, Mel Brown, and Suzanne Janes, and technical direction by Adam CraftAlexandra Baxter is the production stage manager.

Kent Dance Ensemble: No Permission Needed will showcase KDE members Alexandra Cummings, Angelina DiFranco, Willow Freed, Niarra Gooden-Clarke, Kylie Karam, Robert Miller, Mia Savelli, Tori Smith and Sarah Vah along with guest dancers.

For tickets call 330-672-ARTS (2787), purchase online at www.kent.edu/theatredance or in person at the Performing Arts Box Office located in the Roe Green Center lobby of the Center for the Performing Arts at 1325 Theatre Drive. The box office is open Mon. – Fri., Noon to 5 pm. Tickets are $18 for adults, $16 for Kent State University alumni, $14 for faculty and staff, $14 for seniors (60+) and non-Kent State students age 18 and under are $10. Tickets for full-time, Kent campus undergraduates are free of charge. Groups of 10 or more can purchase tickets for $12 per person.  Flex pass subscriptions are also available. The box office accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover, checks, and cash.
