Where I'm From

A community poem written by the residents of Edgewood Village, Akron, OH

I’m from stacked apartments and dark broken alleys.
I’m from thriving streets, stores, 
community, and opportunity.
I’m from miniature apartments, 
with a gigantic close-knit family,
Everybody’s inclusive —
I’m from rising racism and crushed dreams.
I’m from grown tulips hours away,
still blossoming like Edgewood Village.
