Register for Big Read Book Discussion and Pick Up Your Book at Kent State Ashtabula Library

Kent State University at Ashtabula will host a book discussion on “An American Sunrise” as part of the Big Read year-long celebration on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022.

The event will include a brief introduction to author Joy Harjo and her work and will be followed by a discussion of Harjo’s collection “An American Sunrise”.

Interested participants are invited to check out “An American Sunrise” at the Kent State Ashtabula library.  Books have been provided to the library through a National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Big Read grant and can be picked up after registration is complete.

Register for Feb. 10th An American Sunrise Book Discussion

The National Endowment for the Arts’ Big Read community reading program focuses on Poet Laureate Joy Harjo’s “An American Sunrise”, a book of poetry influenced and informed by Harjo’s tribal history and connection to the land of her Native American ancestors.

Kent State was one of 61 organizations nationwide to be awarded a 2021-22 NEA Big Read grant. The $20,000 grant supports the programs, events and activities being offered by the partner institutions in Northeast Ohio.
