Join us for the Human Resources Expo & Networking event, where students majoring, minoring, or pursuing a certificate in human resources or related field of study will have opportunities to explore functional areas within human resources, learn internship &/or job search strategies, and network with human resources professionals and alumni.
Careers in human resources span a variety of occupations including Talent Acquisition & Recruitment, Training & Development, and Compensation & Benefits. This HR Expo & Networking event will begin with an interactive panel of professionals discussing internship/job search strategies & tips, engage students in round table discussions based upon 1) talent acquisition & recruitment, 2) training & development, and 3) compensation & benefits, and conclude with light refreshments and a networking event for students to connect with HR professionals.
Bring a few questions for the panelists and round table facilitators to make sure you learn all YOU want to know about a career in human resources!
This event is held in collaboration with the Kent State Student Human Resource Association.
Attendees will learn the art of crafting impactful resumes and cover letters, ensuring you stand out in today’s competitive job market by harnessing the power of AI to enhance your writing process, from generating ideas to polishing the final draft. Grab your coffee and join the Department of Career Exploration and Development to learn best practices, common pitfalls to avoid and how to tailor your documents for different industries. Come celebrate Kent State Homecoming with your local Southern California Alumni Chapter the Golden Flash way - by giving back! We will be volunteering at the Waymakers Huntington Beach Youth Shelter completing grounds and house maintenance, including organizing storage sheds, maintaining the yard and garden, replenishing the pantry, deep cleaning, etc.

Towpath Hike or Brandywine Hike: $5 per person
Hike the scenic towpath for a low impact walk led by Jennifer Daring, ‘21, alumna and outdoor recreation specialist for the Cleveland Metroparks. Or join alum Amanda Schuster, ‘06, for a moderately strenuous hike to Brandywine Falls.
Printmaking Workshop: $10 per person
Create your own unique artwork to take home by collecting leaves and other natural materials in this hands-on workshop led by Kent State Associate Professor Taryn McMahon.
Biking: $25 per person
Bring your own bike for a journey along the scenic Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath Trail, with a pit stop at Peninsula’s PurpleBrown Farm Store to enjoy some locally grown, organic foods.
A portion of all paid activities support Kent State’s Environmental Science and Design Research Initiative. Each activity happens simultaneously so participation in more than one is not an option.

This workshop covers networking basics and is designed to allow you to practice or develop your existing networking skills in a low-pressure environment. Our employer partners can give you a real-world professional perspective on the importance of networking and tips to build professional connections.
Networking is essential for having a productive experience at career fairs and securing future opportunities. Join us on Thursday, October 17th from 11am - 12:30pm for tips & tricks to help you successfully develop your professional network. Location Crawford Hall Brinzo Entrepreneurial Lab, 116.

Location Crawford Hall 222. Networking for Good, part of our Ready for Business event series, is a collaboration between Community Engaged Learning and the ACCBE Career Services Office. This event is designed for students and employer partners to connect, network, and learn about opportunities while working together on projects that will help members of the Kent community.

ALL CRAWFORD COLLEGE BUSINESS STUDENTS ARE INVITED!!
These career drop-in hours are designed as informal discussions where you can bring your career questions or thoughts and chat with professionals. The goal of our career drop-in “Ask Us ANYTHING” hours is to create a safe & welcoming space where you feel comfortable seeking advice and input on a variety of career development issues. These casual discussions will give you a chance to “ask anything” - chat about what to include on your resume, ask how to make yourself stand out, dish about what to expect in an interview, etc.
Join us every Wednesday from 12:00 2:00 pm outside the Student Success Center on the 2nd floor of Crawford Hall.
