This year’s Major Minor Expo will consist of an event, hosted daily in Handshake the week of March 14-18, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm., with the option for in-person information sessions, hosted by your department/unit/college. If you plan to host an in-person option, please be sure to list the day/time/location in the description of your registration and fill out this form: https://forms.office.com/r/CZVKRiquua
HOW WILL IT WORK?
Virtual fairs - the feature we’re using to host MME - in Handshake provide the opportunity to host group sessions to interact with students. You will have the autonomy to choose which days/times work best for your program’s representatives. You can schedule as few or as many group sessions during the week that students can sign-up to join. Then, at the days/times you have scheduled group sessions, you’ll log into Handshake and present to the students in attendance!
- Group Sessions are:
- 30 minutes each; will run each half-hour, daily between 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (last session at 3:30 p.m.)
- Multiple students (up to 50) can attend
- Great for sharing information about your program’s culture, specific skills obtained, and/or about specific internships or opportunities your students/alumni have experienced
NEXT STEPS
Step 1: BEFORE REGISTERING
Know how you will represent your academic program(s)/department(s)/unit(s). Will each major/minor have their own registration? Will you share information about multiple majors/minors/programs through a more central registration?
In either situation, the individual who will be registering your academic program/department/unit for the Major Minor Expo, should read, be familiar with, and distribute Handshake's Virtual Fair Playbook for Employers to each of the representatives participating in the MME for your area. IMPORTANT: for MME academic programs will be utilizing the 'employer' role in Handshake instructions and support articles.
A list of existing applicable Handshake accounts and the 'owners' at Kent State University can be found HERE. Still not sure if you have a Handshake account for your area? Email us at career@kent.edu.
Step 2: REGISTRATION
Register for the Major Minor Expo in Handshake. IMPORTANT: There is a Major Minor Expo fair for EACH day, March 14-18, from 10 am - 4 pm. You MUST register for EACH DAY your program wants to participate.
In other words, when you search for fairs in Handshake, you will see "Major Minor Expo, Monday March 14", "Major Minor Expo, Tuesday March 15", etc., and you must register and sign up for group sessions on each day you wish to host them.
REGISTRATION CLOSES TUESDAY, MARCH 1, 2022, AT 5:00 PM EST.
