November 9 & 10, 2020.  Education SuperStart 2.0.  Your education career starts here!  Easy registration via Handshake.Education SuperStart 2.0 is an event designed to help students interested in careers in K-12 education elevate their professional presence on paper, in-person, and online. Students who plan to seek full-time, or part-time positions in a K-12 school are encouraged to attend this event to prepare.

The event will feature sessions presented by employers and school districts on resumes and cover letters, interviewing in a school setting, teaching out of state, job searching, non-teaching careers in education, licensure, and more! You will also have the opportunity to network with employers and school districts attending.

You have flexibility to select which breakout sessions you want to attend to make sure you get the most out of the event. We will cover formatting, content, and what to emphasize to maximize your chances or earning an interview. Session Description:  Most educators have pictured their dream classroom and the perfect school setting for them. This session will cover the important questions to ask and information to consider when searching for your perfect K-12 position.

Session Description:  Interviewing can be intimidating but with practice and preparation, interviews are your chance to stand out. Learn how to prepare, cover frequently asked interview questions and prepare what you intent to ask to find your perfect position in this session.

TEACHING OUT OF STATE

Session Description:  Opportunities for teaching positions are abundant across the country. Explore the possibilities and considerations of teaching outside the state of Ohio through this session.

About Stafford County Public Schools:  With thirty-three schools and a variety of supporting departments, Stafford County Public Schools is full of opportunities for professionals of many backgrounds. Our division prioritizes the professional growth of our employees. Under the direction of the Department of Learning & Organizational Development, staff development seminars are offered to address school-wide initiatives, including technology, multicultural education, and curriculum strategies. Seminar offerings are numerous and may be utilized for Virginia licensure renewal credit. We strive to ensure the success of all new teachers by offering a Colleague And Mentor Program (C.A.M.P.). Through C.A.M.P., new teachers are provided a mentor, staff development opportunities, and ongoing support throughout their first year in our division. Our extensive Wellness Program is available for all employees and their families. The program includes physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. HOW TO FIND AN EDUCATION CAREER

Presented by Tim Neubert, Executive Director at American Association for Employment in Education

Session Description:  You've prepared a stellar resume and cover letter and know what you are seeking in a position. Next step, finding those positions and opportunities. This session will walk you through the steps to finding and applying for positions in the K-12 setting.

About American Association for Employment in Education:  AAEE was founded in 1934 as the National Institutional Teacher Placement Association, and was known from 1962 to 1996 as the Association for School, College and University Staffing (ASCUS). Today, as the American Association for Employment in Education, we help ease the day-to-day challenges of matching educational institutions and staff. Members are career services professionals who work with education candidates and school system human resource administrators. The association is a resource and liaison to these professionals, facilitating quality K-12 staffing. AAEE provides highly targeted research and publications, professional development, and networking opportunities.

Education Careers Outside the Classroom

Session Description:  If you love working with students or simply enjoy the K-12 setting but are thinking that a classroom might not be the right fit for you, then this session is for you. Explore the multitude of teaching and non-teaching options for working in K-12 education outside the classroom.
