About LGBTQ+ History Month (October)
LGBTQ+ History Month is a dedicated month to reflect on the often-overlooked contributions of LGBTQ+ individuals in United States history. It is a celebration of LGBTQ+ individual contributions to history, culture and society and has been observed annually in the Month of October in the United States since 1994, to coincide with 10/11 National Coming OUT Day. While we honor those pioneers who paved the way, we also celebrate and acknowledge the history being made today as we look forward to a more equitable future for all.

Save the date! Lavender Graduation is scheduled for Thursday, May 2nd, 2024, 6pm-8:30pm in the Kent Student Center Ballroom. Registration is required and will be available soon (February 2024) on our website. Email LGBTQSC@kent.edu with any questions.
The LGBTQ+ Center cordially invites you to attend our Lavender Graduation ceremony! Join us Thursday, May 2, for the alumni reception from 5-6 p.m., followed by the LavGrad ceremony from 6-8:30 p.m. in the Kent Student Center Ballroom. Dinner will be provided.

The program focuses on pioneer/settler Emily Nash who traveled by wagon train to the Western Reserve (Geauga County) in 1813. Traveling from Massachusetts to Troy, Geauga County, the Nash family were some of the first settlers in Ohio.
