Maria Zaldivar

Dr. María Zaldivar is an NTT Professor in the Department of Modern and Classical Language Studies. She is the coordinator of Intermediate Spanish courses and teaches introductory and upper-level courses in Spanish. She has been teaching Spanish courses at Kent State University since 2008. Dr. Zaldivar is a native speaker of Spanish. She was born and raised in Latin America where she completed her undergraduate education in Biology and obtained a M.Sc. in Cultural Anthropology. She obtained her PhD at Penn State University and returned to Latin America where she taught at the University of Costa Rica. After moving to Kent, she started teaching as a part-time instructor while completing the coursework for OH K-12 licensure in Spanish. She has been a full-time instructor of Spanish since 2012 where she brings her experience on college teaching and her knowledge about the language, the culture and second language pedagogy.
