Biography
Alyssa Mazey is a Director of Philanthropy at Kent State University, where she partners closely with academic leadership to advance strategic philanthropic initiatives that support students, faculty, and institutional priorities. In her role, Alyssa focuses on cultivating and stewarding major gifts, with an emphasis on building meaningful, long-term relationships that align donor passions with transformative opportunities across the university.
With a background spanning higher education administration, fundraising, public relations, communications, leadership, and organizational development, Alyssa approaches philanthropy as both a strategic and human-centered practice. She is known for her collaborative leadership style, thoughtful cultivation and stewardship strategies, and ability to translate complex institutional goals into compelling philanthropic narratives.
Alyssa is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration, where her research explores the staff experience during organizational change and transition through the lenses of organizational behavior, organizational behavior management, and change management. Her academic work informs her professional practice, particularly in navigating change, fostering trust, and supporting sustainable institutional growth.
Beyond her role at Kent State, Alyssa serves in national leadership positions, including as a Vice President on the National Council for Alpha Xi Delta Women's Fraternity, and is actively engaged in community and philanthropic initiatives throughout Northeast Ohio. She is passionate about mentorship, leadership development, and creating environments where people feel valued, supported, and empowered to do meaningful work.
