Campus Executive Chef wins NACUFS Culinary Challenge

Campus Executive Chef, Billy Edmondson, won first place at the 2020 NACUFS Midwest Culinary Challenge. The event took place at University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana this past weekend. Chef Billy battled other competitors while he cooked and prepared the winning dish, Jerk Cornish Hen with Hash topped with Pickled Slaw.

Chef Billy will now compete at the national conference in Cleveland during the month of July before a live audience of college and university foodservice professionals, industry experts, and American Culinary Federation judges. Chef Billy was originally scheduled to compete last year at the NACUFS National Conference in Atlanta, but due to the pandemic, the competition was postponed until this summer.

Chef Billy looks to continue his high level of performance in culinary competition with participation in this event. In November of 2019, Chef Billy out-cooked over 100 chefs to become one of 15 finalists to compete in the Aramark Culinary Excellence competition, teaming up with two other university chefs to comprise the Higher Education team.
