David Hacker Recognized for his Work Engaging Students in Undergraduate Research
Dr. Hacker is being recognized for his work engaging students in undergraduate research. He has mentored over 40 undergraduate independent studies and honors students, in addition to directing KSU’s Geology Summer Field camp where students travel to South Dakota, Wyoming and Idaho for a six-credit experiential learning course. His dedication for engaging students in research is also evident in his collaboration with students in submissions and presentations at conferences, journal articles, geologic maps and book chapters. Dr. Hacker has also received the President’s Faculty Excellence Award in 2017, and the Distinguished Teaching Award in 2015, in addition to other awards outside of Kent State.
