Dance @Kent State: Early Start Dance Master Classes

The School of Theatre and Dance at Kent State University is offering a special series of six Dance @Kent State: Early Start Dance Master Classes, August 15-17, 2023 for intermediate and advanced dancers studying at Kent State as well as high school-age dancers from the surrounding community. 

Participants can take up to two masterclasses each evening: Intermediate / Advanced Ballet with DeAnn Petruschke and Intermediate / Advanced Contemporary Jazz with Erin Smith.

You can choose individual classes at $10 each or all six classes for $50.

About the Masterclasses and Instructors

Ballet with DeAnn Petruschke

August 15-17, 2023 from 4:00-5:30 pm
DeAnn Petruschke
, with ballet accompanist Natasha Musaelyan, will teach a masterclass in Intermediate/Advanced Ballet each evening from 4:00 - 5:30 pm. 
A former soloist and in the corps de ballet for Ballet Arizona, Cleveland Ballet, San Jose Ballet, Oregon Ballet Theater, Grand Rapids Ballet and Ballet Gamonet, Ms. Petruschke joined Kent State in Fall 2022 after more than a decade as ballet mistress and teacher for Miami City Ballet

Contemporary Jazz with Erin Smith

August 15-17, 2023 from 5:45 - 7:15pm
Erin Smith will teach a masterclass in Intermediate/Advanced Contemporary Jazz each evening from 5:45 - 7:15 pm. 

A former soloist with the Columbia City Ballet in South Carolina, Ms. Smith holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Dance from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro and has been an adjunct faculty member at Kent State while serving as Owner/Director of Studio West Performing Arts Center for more than a decade.
