Kent State President Todd Diacon welcomed the campus community to the university's virtual observance activities for Martin Luther King Day. This year's commemoration keynote address was delivered by CNN political analyst and former South Carolina state Rep. Bakari Sellers. Joey Contreras

Award-winning songwriter Joey Contreras, a 2020-2021 Roe Green Visiting Artist, will present a virtual Songwriting Master Class on Thursday, January 28 at 7:00 p.m. via Zoom. Contreras will share his knowledge and experiences while offering guidance to help you build confidence as a songwriter. Students can submit works in progress to receive feedback in a safe, collaborative space, as well as learn the basics of song structure, the art of storytelling and the importance of honed in intention.  Contreras's musical "In Pieces" was presented  by the school in December. ...

The College of the Arts is proud to continue the acclaimed Thomas Schroth Visiting Artist Series with virtual presentations this spring dedicated to the College's commitment to celebrating diversity within the Arts.

The next guest speaker of this year's series is actor, director, educator, and activist Kaja Dunn.

Dunn will give a presentation and take questions on Tuesday, January 26 from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. via Zoom. Admission to the event is FREE, however reservations are required.
