In the collection, “Touched,” there is a variety of different hand craftsmanship, like hand knitting and patchworking as well as intentionally imperfect design details to show that the garments were made by hand.
Inspired by the designer’s experience in the thesis program, Cord and Chaos by Krista Budd explores the intersections of art and design by incorporating the chaotic dynamism of the artist learning their medium and the discerning eye of the designer. Abstract expressionism, control, and balance is integral to the collection.

I was inspired for my collection to combine the techniques and aesthetics of up-cycling with ready for market looks, and to investigate the combination of artisanal methods and traditional ready to wear. I love creating one off handmade pieces, but I wanted to show that those pieces can have a place in an everyday wardrobe.
