Miriam Matteson, Ph.D., School of Library and Information Science, presented “A Conversation on Critical Librarianship and Privilege” at the Ohio Library Council annual conference on Sept. 29, 2016, in Sandusky, Ohio.

The Kent State University Board of Trustees today approved separate proposals for dining and cold beverage services that will transform the student experience throughout the university system. Following a competitive bid and review process, the Board approved the recommendation of university leaders to begin contract negotiations with Aramark LLC for dining services and with PepsiCo for exclusive cold beverage rights.

James Hannon will become the new dean of Kent State University’s College of Education, Health and Human Services, effective July 1.

The spring 2017 Bowman Breakfast will take place at Kent State University in the Kent Student Center Ballroom on Wednesday, April 5. Doors open at 7 a.m., breakfast begins at 7:30 a.m. and the program will follow at 8 a.m.

Kent State University students and staff won big at the 2017 American Advertising Federation of Akron’s (AAF-Akron) ADDY Awards ceremony, taking home seven silver awards and one gold.

The Office of Experiential Education and Civic Engagement is seeking nominations for its Celebration of Service award ceremony to honor Kent State students, faculty, staff and community partners who have committed their time to address community needs during the 2016-2017 academic year.

If your route to work includes Summit Street, plan on a little extra time to get to and from your destination. Work is scheduled to begin this week on the second phase of the road improvement project, which will make improvements to Summit Street between Lincoln Street and Fraternity Circle.

One-way, one-lane eastbound traffic is scheduled to begin this week and continue through November. Weather or other factors could delay the start of the one-way traffic.

Organizers of the eighth annual Mothers, Mentors and Muses Scholarship Fundraising Reception have announced a partial list of items for the March 14 benefit auction. 

Those who attend the event will have the opportunity to bid on valuable items and, in the process, help a student on her path to success.

Kent State University's Employee Wellness Program, Wellness Your Way, allows all full-time, benefits-eligible employees to earn up to $300 in incentives by simply participating in healthy lifestyle activities.

Eligible activities include completing your health risk assessment, getting your annual physical, participating in a health screening to "Know Your Numbers," as well as a variety of individual and group activities. Health screenings may be completed on campus or with your primary care physician. Participation is voluntary.
