    Biography

    Dr. Katherine (Katie) McNamara Manning (PhD '23) is a Postdoctoral Research Development Specialist at the Kent State University Environmental Science Design and Research Institute. In this role she serves as Coordinator of the ESDRI Fellows Program, leads communications and planning, and grants administration. 

    She holds a PhD in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the Department of Biological Sciences at Kent State University and a BS in Environmental Science/Zoology at Michigan State University.

    She is formally trained as an insect ecologist, with research experience focused in the areas of insect monitoring, beneficial insects, native bees, biodiversity, living architecture, community and urban ecology. Katie also has leadership experience involving advocating for graduate students, event coordination, and social media communications.
