New Student Group Gives Young Female Filmmakers a Platform, Voice

Award-winning independent filmmaker and assistant professor, Dana White created the student group the Female Filmmaker's Initiative (FFI) to prepare female filmmakers for careers as directors, writers and cinematographers in an industry that’s dominated by men.

Honors Student Reflects on Time as Editor-In-Chief of Luna Negra

Lindsey Sellman, a senior Honors College student majoring in journalism and minoring in creative writing, has spent her final year at Kent State as the Editor-in-Chief of Luna Negra magazine. Luna Negra is a student-led literary and arts magazine in Kent State’s Student Media department. Since 1956, the magazine has changed names and departments, but maintained its tradition of publishing the art and writing of Kent State students.

Kent State Public Relations Student Organization and Alumni Win National Awards

Kent State’s Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA Kent) Chapter, along with two School of Media and Journalism (MDJ) alumnae, earned national recognition at the 2020 PRSSA Annual International Conference. Public relations alumna Jill Golden, won the highest individual award, the National Gold Key award, and alumna Carrie Kandes, APR, earned the Teahan Professional Adviser award.
