As the first Black woman to graduate from Kent State University’s flight program in 1991, Capt. Stephanie Johnson knows what it takes to aim high for a dream and reach it. Now, she wants other young students from diverse backgrounds to be able to envision and achieve their biggest dreams as well.

The KSU Women in Engineering Club was founded in 2021.

Since its inception in 2021, the KSU Women in Engineering Club has been busy hosting school groups and guest speakers while working toward becoming an official chapter of the Society of Women Engineers.

Kent State continues to foster innovation and promote the development of hands-on learning through various collaborative efforts focused on building experience and training. Among the opportunities offered through the university, the Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) Program provides undergraduate students with the chance to engage in an intensive research project during the summer break.
