Theatre Performance - Minor

The Theatre Performance minor will appeal to students who have an interest in acting. The minor connects traditions of performance, and enables students to relate the context of performing in theatre to other area disciplines.

EXPLORE YOUR INTEREST IN THEATRE

The School of Theatre and Dance offers several minors in theatre for students interested in supplementing their major program with studies in theatre. All students pursuing a minor in theatre complete general theatre coursework and select one area of specialization. Students do course work in acting, script analysis and design and technology and select one of several areas of concentration. Click on the links below for requirements for each of the minors.

Students who select THEA 21095 will take it in the Porthouse Theatre Academy in acting, voice and movement.

  • Minimum 6 credit hours in the minor must be upper-division coursework (30000 and 40000 level).
  • Minimum 6 credit hours in the minor must be outside of the course requirements for any major or other minor the student is pursuing.
  • Minimum 50 percent of the total credit hours for the minor must be taken at Kent State (in residence).
Admissions

Admission Requirements

Admission to a minor is open to students declared in a bachelor’s degree, the A.A.B. or A.A.S. degree or the A.T.S. degree (not Individualized Program major). Students declared only in the A.A. or A.S. degree or the A.T.S. degree in Individualized Program may not declare a minor. Students may not pursue a minor and a major in the same discipline.
