Academics

Spending a summer at Dankook University is an incredible opportunity. You’ll learn more about global fashion and gain insight into Korean culture as you take part in classes and traditional activities. You can earn up to six Kent State University credits while taking approved School of Fashion courses – just make sure you complete a Transfer Course Plan Form with your academic advisor to have them applied to your degree.

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

    Summer Courses

    During the summer, you’ll need to enroll in at least six credit hours. Course offerings vary semester to semester depending on faculty availability and enrollment. Dankook University will communicate to participating students their course availability and assist students in the registration process for these courses. Students typically study the following courses:

    FDM 501040 Design Strategy and Planning
    Through the understanding of changing business & corporate environment, students recognize the necessity and importance of design planning and strategies. Therefore, students will learn and practice design planning based on design research and concept design.

    FDM 520880 Design Marketing
    Students understand the general design start-up process, and also develop management abilities based on 'Marketing' in the practical work aspect. Through this course, students develop research abilities and insight to understand the flow of the modern fashion industry world, and also learn the practical work process necessary to the business start-up. Also, they analyze basic principles and main elements of brand management necessary to the establishment of brand identity to take off as a global brand. The processes above are comprised of individual projects for the establishment of different Korean-style global brand.

    Financial Aid

    You may be able to use your existing financial aid and scholarships to cover the costs of Study Away in South Korea. You’ll automatically qualify for a housing scholarship on this program, which covers the cost of dormitory fees.
