Proposal Development and Budgeting

All proposals submitted for externally-funded sponsored projects are developed in Kuali Research. Office of Sponsored Programs staff provides guidance for proposal set-up, budget development, and document uploads.

Kuali simplifies collaboration among investigators, the Office of Sponsored Programs, Foundation Relations, and departmental administrators through shared access to proposal data, budgets and submission materials.

Approval Routing and Submission

Departmental and college-level approvals are obtained through electronic routing to administrators of all units involved in an application. The final budget must be must be entered into Kuali and routed for internal approval no later than five working days prior to the due date.

Required proposal narrative documents are also uploaded into the Kuali record. All documents in near-final form must be submitted to Sponsored Programs no later than two working days prior to the sponsor due date. Final documents are due by 8AM on the agency due date

Once the Kuali record is complete and the budget has been approved, the proposal can be submitted to the sponsor. The Kuali proposal module allows for direct system-to-system (S2S) submission of select proposal applications to Grants.gov, resulting in faster submission processing of federal applications and fewer errors in transmission.
