Taste of Home Winner

Kent State University’s Dining Services recently hosted its annual Taste of Home competition and announced the winning dish: a turkey chili recipe submitted by Debbie McKinney, a Kent State parent. The Taste of Home competition encourages students’ family members to submit recipes of their student’s favorite home-cooked meals for the chance to have it served on campus. Kent State University officially launched the University Stewards program this semester. The program provides students with stewards who work to serve as a point of resource, referral and support. University Stewards, a collaboration between the Division of Student Affairs and the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, was initially tested in the 2016 Spring Semester with a class of 15 stewards. The Kent State University Police Services hosted its first-ever Coffee With a Cop event in the Nest in the Kent Student Center on Sept. 14. Kent State University’s Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) program is celebrating its 14th year. Though relatively new, the Kent State TEFL program has been able to offer its students a diverse experience through an intimate network of partnerships in Dresden, Germany. The program is facilitated in collaboration with Technische Universität (TU) Dresden and is led by Klaus Gommlich, TEFL program director and founder. The contemporary a cappella sensation VoicePlay will be on stage at the Kent State University at Tuscarawas Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 15. Kent State University will celebrate the grand opening of its newest and much-anticipated building, the Center for Architecture and Environmental Design, on Friday, Oct. 7. Because the grand opening is being held outdoors and more than 1,000 people are expected to attend, Lincoln Street will be closed between Rt. 59/Main Street and College Avenue from 2-5 p.m. on Oct. 7.  The Rockwell Hall parking lot will close at 11 a.m. and remain closed for the rest of the day.
