The deadline to apply for one of the four May 4th Legacy Scholarships has been extended to April 17, 2023.  Each scholarship is in the amount of $3,000.   The May 4th Legacy Scholarship Program was established by Kent State University in 2020.  This program provides four scholarships to be given to students majoring in our Peace and Conflict Studies program. Kent State has a new Neurodiversity Research Initiative

Kent State University’s Brain Health Research Institute (BHRI) has begun a new Neurodiversity Research Initiative to shed light on the perspective of neurodiverse individuals.  The idea for the initiative came about two years ago, after an article was published detailing the efforts of a BHRI professor who was researching animal models of autistic brains, delving into the brain circuitry on a cellular level with the goal of one day developing drug therapies that could enable individuals with autism to experience more conventional social interactions. Singer-songwriter David Crosby, who performed the iconic "Ohio" with Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young following the events at Kent State of May 4, 1970, passed away in mid-January at the age of 81.  Crosby maintained a passion for the four students who died and nine who were wounded on May 4, 1970, when the Ohio National Guard opened fire on the Kent Campus following an anti-war rally. Dr. Josh Wilder has already proved he is a survivor. Wilder, who received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from Kent State University’s College of Podiatric Medicine in 2016, was born with Eagle-Barrett syndrome, also known as Prune-Belly syndrome, and doctors did not think he would make it past age 5. At age 9, he had a kidney transplant and was put on immunosuppressant medications for the rest of his life.
