The protected prairie surrounding Kent State University’s Warren Student Recreation and Wellness Center will be burned on Monday, April 15, between the hours of 9 a.m. and noon, to allow for new growth during the summer season. The city of Kent Fire Department will conduct the controlled burning of the prairie, which has been a yearly practice since 2004. Olivia Meyer, a senior Honors College fashion merchandising student, has won the Chairman's Award for the Fashion Scholarship Fund 2024 Case Study Competition. Meyer competed against hundreds of other applicants across the country, creating an ESG-focused case study for the brand Sheertex. Her case received the highest score in the merchandising category from industry judges. In March, she pitched her case study to the industry judges.
