Mission, Vision and Goals of the Center for Nursing Research

Vision/Mission 

To stimulate faculty interest, productivity, and stature by expanding research, engaging in research internationally, ensuring student success, and developing and recognizing people.

Assessment of Current Research Activity

Specific applications of this focus within the College of Nursing through health, well-being, and knowledge development and translation within a broad-based, ecological context:

  • Self-management of acute and chronic disease across the lifespan
  • Wellness in health, caregiver, occupational, and vulnerable populations within and across family systems
  • Health-related care systems and outcomes
  • Global and cultural health and wellness
  • Emerging education, translational and research methodologies (including biomarkers, simulation, action research, mixed methods, large data; instrument development)
  • End-of-life/palliative care

Goals of the Center for Nursing Research

EXPAND RESEARCH

  • Develop a stronger research/scholarship culture
  • Increase the visibility of research and scholarship
  • Promote research/scholarship of non-tenure track faculty
  • Develop rigor in the internal process
  • Mentor nursing research faculty

ENGAGE IN RESEARCH INTERNATIONALLY

  • Develop productive research collaborations

ENSURE STUDENT SUCCESS

  • Introduce greater research into undergraduate curriculum
  • Broaden graduate student involvement in research
