Activities and Organizations
Your life outside the classroom is an important part of your experience at Kent State.
The Center for Student Involvement (CSI) is the place to find information about all of the great on- and off-campus activities and student organizations and what they offer.
Would you like to catch a free late night movie? Is Karaoke your thing? Or maybe you’re a runner and like the great outdoors. Whatever your interests may be, with more than 300 student organizations and a wide variety of events held throughout the year, you’ll always have something new and interesting to do.
A college education is much more than going to class and working hard to earn a degree. When you join a student or professional organization, you’ll have an opportunity to meet interesting people and make lifelong friends. Being involved is not only fun, you can make connections and build a network that can help you throughout your career.
Below are a few organizations that may interest you as a nursing student.
Diversity in Nursing Association (DNA)
DNA is an organization dedicated to working to increase diversity within the College of Nursing through peer and faculty support as well as educational, social and professional developmental programs.
Sigma, Delta Xi Chapter
The honor society, today known as Sigma, was founded as Sigma Theta Tau in 1922 by six nursing students at Indiana University. From those six founding members, our organization has grown to more than 135,000 active members, in more than 530 chapters, in over 90 countries around the world. For more than 90 years, Sigma has been recognizing and celebrating excellence in scholarship, leadership, and service within nursing and midwifery.
The Delta Xi Chapter of Kent State University has been a part of this global community of nursing since 1980. Sigma membership is by invitation to baccalaureate and graduate nursing students who demonstrate excellence in scholarship and to nurse leaders exhibiting exceptional achievements in nursing.

Students for Professional Nursing (SPN)
SPN is an organization for students in the Nursing or Pre-Nursing major. Meetings and volunteer activities are organized for members to encourage involvement in the program, community, and to bring fellow students together
Student Nurses Association (KSU-SNA)
Kent State University Student Nurses Association (KSU-SNA) is a student nurse organization that focuses on building leadership skills through activities and events. Getting involved will help students reach their own personal potential and improve their student experience. Resume building and career development opportunities are also available. Community involvement is also a goal of KSU-SNA. Networking occurs at a local, state and national level - Local meetings, State and National Conventions.
