Engagement Opportunity: Academic Affairs Strategic Planning

Dear Colleagues:

I hope your semester is winding down gently and you are planning ways to relax and rejuvenate during the summer. I know many of you who are faculty will be full engaged in teaching, research, and creative efforts during the summer, but please do find time for yourself and the people and activities that bring you joy. Likewise, those of you who do the valiant work of the university year-round, find your moments, days, and weeks this summer to relish who and what you love.

But before your summer begins in earnest, I hope you will consider an opportunity to be engaged in the Division of Academic Affairs strategic planning process. I am excited to begin work on a new plan this fall, with Dr. Manfred van Dulmen, Associate Provost for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Division of Graduate Studies leading this initiative. In an effort to hit the ground running at the start of the fall semester, a working group is currently reviewing the previous strategic plan  to understand what we have learned and accomplished as measured through that plan. With that information, as well as knowledge gained and recommendations forwarded through other university-wide initiatives, such as the Anti-Racism Task Force, Strategic Enrollment Management Planning, and the Climate Study, we will have markers to help direct the Academic Affairs strategic planning process.

I intend for our strategic planning process to be inclusive, engaging, and transparent and yield strategies that will result in impactful and meaningful goals with tactics and strategies that can be implemented to further enhance the academic experience of all Golden Flashes. Faculty, staff, and students from all areas and disciplines are invited to engage in this collaborative initiative.

If you are interested in being part of the strategic planning process, please complete the following brief survey. This will help us put together a strategy and committees that represent the views of all Kent State University community members.

Thank you for your consideration,

Melody Tankersley, Ph.D.
Senior Vice President and Provost
