As a Kent Campus undergraduate psychology major, you have access to a team of three different advisors that will help you through your degree program: (1) The Department of Psychological Sciences Advisors, (2) Academic Advisors in the College of Arts and Sciences, and (3) your Faculty Advisor. The Advisors in the Department of Psychological Sciences assist Kent Campus undergraduate psychology majors. You should schedule an appointment to meet one-on-one with a Departmental Advisor if you would like to discuss the following: Bryce, Kristi, Aurora - 3.10.2017

Departmental Advisors meet with Kent Campus students on a formal appointment basis only. You can view advising availability and schedule an appointment with an advisor online by clicking on the blue button below. Appointment slots are 45 minutes in length and take place in Kent Hall 144 (Main Office).

If you are a Regional Campus student, click here to meet with your Academic Advisor at your Regional Campus. Kent Campus Departmental Advisors do not meet with students from the Regional Campuses. 

Late Policy: If you are more than 10 minutes late to your appointment, you will be marked as a "no show" and must reschedule.  If you need to cancel your appointment, please do so by logging into the KSU Advising system using the appointment link below.

Important Considerations: Departmental advising availability is limited. New appointment slots become available every day at midnight, so revisit the link below often for new availability.

You may also meet with a College of Arts & Sciences Academic Advisor in Bowman Hall 105 for advising and to fulfill your required advising appointment if there are no appointment slots available to meet with the Department of Psychological Sciences Advisors (see more information below).

 
 
 

College of Arts & Sciences Advisors

Every Kent Campus student majoring in psychology is assigned an Academic Advisor in the College of Arts and Sciences. The College of Arts and Sciences Advising Office is located in Bowman Hall 105. Schedule an appointment to meet one-on-one with your assigned Academic Advisor in the College of Arts and Sciences, which can be done by clicking the link below, for the following reasons:

  • Fulfill your required advising appointment each semester
  • Get your Advising PIN removed
  • Plan classes for next semester
  • Review and update your GPS Plan
  • Ensure that you are on track for a timely graduation
  • Interpret general University policies and procedures (e.g., Kent Core and Foreign Language requirements)
  • Answer questions about a major change within the College of Arts & Sciences
  • Acquire information about campus resources and academic assistance

The College of Arts & Sciences Advising Office in Bowman Hall 105 also offers Walk-In/Quick Question Advising hours throughout the semester.  You can call 330-672-2062 for more information or to determine if your question/concern can be answered during these Quick Question Advising hours.  To satisfy your "required advising" appointment, you must schedule a formal appointment online by clicking on the blue button below.

Faculty Advisors most commonly advise undergraduate psychology majors on graduate school preparation and graduate school plans, opportunities for involvement in research, and strategies to make the most of their time at Kent State University. Bryce Cain, Academic Advisor and Undergraduate Internship CoordinatorBryce Cain serves as the Senior Advisor and Undergraduate Internship Coordinator for the Department of Psychological Sciences. Bryce received his Master's degree in Higher Education Administration and his Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Akron.

Aurora Headshot

Aurora Alexander serves as an Academic Advisor for the Department of Psychological Sciences.  Aurora received her Master of Arts in Counseling & Human Development with an emphasis in Student Affairs in Higher Education from Walsh University and her Bachelor of Arts from Marshall University.

Kristina Kamis

Kristi Kamis is the Graduate Assistant for Advising and Undergraduate Initiatives.  Kristi graduated with her Bachelor's degree in Psychology and minor in Communication Studies in May 2016 from Kent State University and is now pursuing a Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration and Student Personnel.

Joel HughesJoel Hughes, Ph.D. is the Undergraduate Curriculum Coordinator and Professor of Psychology. Joel received his Doctorate of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology at The Ohio State University.

Cebrina McDannald is the Student Worker for the Department of Psychological Sciences' Advising Office.  Cebrina is currently a junior psychology major within the Department and assists with various projects and initiatives for the Advising Office.
