Kent State University held its Summer 2017 Commencement ceremonies for the Kent Campus on Saturday, Aug. 19, at the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center (MAC Center). Kent State conferred 1,422 degrees, including 908 bachelor’s degrees, 427 master’s degrees, 67 doctoral degrees and 20 educational specialist degrees.

Across the university’s eight-campus system, 1,765 students graduated from Kent State this summer, including those receiving associate degrees.

You have completed almost all your college classes, finished your internship, and now you are a semester away from graduation. But wait! An unexpected emergency happens, and financially you are unable to pay your final tuition bill. All your hopes and dreams are going to be put on hold.

Star of “The Help” and “Hidden Figures” inspires students to follow their dreams as keynote speaker for Kent State University’s first One University Commencement Ceremony.

The music echoed a pronounced, loud drumbeat as 400 female graduates marched step-by-step to the cadence of the drumbeat, down a very long entryway right up to the very edge of the stage.

“It was the most dramatic ceremony I’ve ever seen,” said Kent State University’s President Beverly Warren. “These powerful women marching directly toward us to the beat of this powerful music, as if to say, ‘get ready, world. Here we come!’ It gave me the chills. I’ll remember that moment for a very long time.”

WHAT:
Kent State University will celebrate its newest graduates at its Spring 2017 Commencement. In total, Kent State will confer 5,636 degrees, including 992 associate degrees, 3,319 bachelor’s degrees, 1,139 master’s degrees, 181 doctoral degrees and five educational specialist degrees.

Kent State University is honored to welcome Academy Award-winning actress and author Octavia Spencer as the keynote speaker for the first university-wide Commencement ceremony on May 13.

Kent State University will hold its Fall Commencement ceremonies for the Kent Campus on Friday, Dec. 16, and Saturday, Dec. 17, at the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center (MAC Center). Kent State will confer 2,544 degrees, including 1,773 bachelor’s degrees, 715 master’s degrees, 55 doctoral degrees and one educational specialist degrees. 

Across the university’s eight-campus system, 3,252 students will graduate from Kent State this fall, including those receiving associate degrees. 

Kent State University held its Summer 2016 Commencement ceremony for the Kent Campus on Saturday, Aug. 20, at the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center (MAC Center). Kent State conferred 1,455 degrees, including 917 bachelor’s degrees, 440 master’s degrees, 75 doctoral degrees and 23 educational specialist degrees.

Across the university’s eight-campus system, 1,610 students graduated from Kent State this summer, including those receiving associate degrees.
