Kent State captured its first Mid-American Conference Women's Basketball Tournament championship since 2002 on Saturday, defeating Buffalo, 78-60, in the title game at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.

Kent State has advanced to the Mid-American Conference Women's Basketball Tournament championship game for the first time since 2006, beating Ball State, 65-50, in a semifinal contest at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse on Friday.

The Kent State men's basketball team (16-16, 9-10 MAC) upset No.1 Toledo, 67-59, earlier today. With today's win, the Flashes will advance to the semifinals on Friday, March 15. The Flashes will take on No.5 Bowling Green at approximately 5 p.m. ET.

During his time at Kent State, Saban earned three letters in football and one in baseball from 1970 to 1972. In 1973, he was a graduate assistant coach and defensive assistant for the Flashes. He was inducted into the Kent State Varsity K Hall of Fame in 2015.
