During the month of March, the Poetry Coalition launches its inaugural effort, Because We Come from Everything: Poetry & Migration.  

The Wick Poetry Center at Kent State University will expand its successful Traveling Stanzas project with $125,000 in new funding from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, as part of its Knight Arts Challenge.

The Knight Arts Challenge funds ideas that engage and enrich Akron through the arts. 
 
Traveling Stanzas: Writing Across Borders is a partnership between the Wick Poetry Center and the Visual Communication Design program at Kent State to facilitate a global conversation through the intimate and inclusive voice of poetry. 

The Wick Poetry Center, in Kent State University’s College of Arts and Sciences, recently received two grants from the Ohio Arts Council. The grants, totaling $28,368, will help support the Wick reading series, student scholarships, poetry publications, outreach workshops and the Traveling Stanzas project.

"Dear Monarch" is a poem written by Mrs. Vesia's Preschool Class at the Kent State University Child Development Center in collaboration with Wick Poetry Center intern, Victoria Bracher. "Dear Monarch" is part of the Traveling Stanzas project and was installed in recognition of the groundbreaking ceremony for the College of Arts and Sciences' Integrated Science Building on October 2, 2015. The College of Arts and Sciences is committed to advancing the collaboration between the sciences and humanities.
