VCD Grad Student Illustrates Marvel Comic

Chad Lewis, a graduate student in the School of Visual Communication Design at Kent State University, has hammered out a career in illustration by penning his version of Thor’s origin story for the latest Marvel Avengers comic.

For most of her life, Kent State junior visual communication design major Jasmine McCulley, has built her identity around community, the arts and competition, whether through The Touch of Gold Twirlers or competitive baton twirling. Sixteen years after she first picked up a baton, she will represent Team USA this August in Paris at the IBTF World Competition.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the prevalence of food allergies has risen by 50% since the 1990s; therefore, raising awareness and ensuring safety are top priorities.
