Course Offerings

Course offerings are subject to change and may vary by semester. Read on for more information about specific academic programs. 

Fashion

Student will have the opportunity to focus on one of two speciliazations: Design Process or Fashion Merchandising & Communication. The courses will be tailored to the student's specializations along with shared coursework in core areas. Student can select from two sessions, June or July.

Fashion Merchandising & Communication Specialization:

  • FDM 35689 European Fashion Marketing (3 credit hours)
  • FDM 35789 European Fashion Marketing Seminar (3 credit hours)

Fashion Design Specialization:

  • FDM 35889 European Fashion Design (3 credit hours)
  • FDM 35989 European Fashion Design Seminar (3 credit hours)

*Academic credit will be awarded by Kent State University. If you are not a Kent State student, the credits can be easily transferred.

Interior Design

Students will have the opportunity to gain a strong foundation in design techniques, participate in an intensive design studio and culminate with a final presentation of their summer work. The courses will have a practical and hands-on approach with visits to Parisian architectural sites, furniture and fabric stores. This workshop will be during the month of July.

*Academic credit will be awarded by Paris American Academy. Be sure to check with your academic advisor to discuss which courses best fit your program requirements and how the classes will transfer back to Kent State University. If you are not a Kent State student, the credits can be easily transferred.

Creative Writing

Students will have the opportunity to be taught by four renowned professional writers during the month of July. Ther first two weeks are focused on Fiction, Poetry, Travel Writing, Memoir, Personal Essay, Journal Writing, Plays and Screenplays, and Presentations and Performance. The second half of the month is centered around the writing workshop, where students have the opportunity to share and revise their own work with feedback from their parents and teachers. Students will also have the opportunity to attend literary panel presentations and give readings in Parisian venues.

Fine Arts

Students will have the opportunity to participate in an intensive drawing and paiting studio during the month of July. Class time is split between visits to art museums and exhibitions throughout the Paris region, as well as studio time for students to develop their own projects.
