New Music Ensemble

Dedicated to performing the most exciting and relevant music of our time.

About the Ensemble

The Kent State New Music Ensemble, co-directed by Dr. Adam Roberts and Dr. Perry Roth, is dedicated to performing the most exciting and relevant music of our time. Comprised of Kent State students, the New Music Ensemble performs four unique programs each year that feature music by diverse composers from around the world. The New Music Ensemble is committed to cultivating a variety of performance practices, including realizing notated music, interpreting open scores, improvising, and performing works that include electronics.

The Ensemble incorporates small chamber groups as well as larger ensembles. Guest artists and faculty artists from the Glauser School of Music frequently perform with the New Music Ensemble.

The New Music Ensemble performs on the School of Music Concert Series and other concerts, both on and off campus throughout the year.
