Voice Faculty Member Jay White Leads Busy Month of Teaching, Performing and Conducting
Between finishing up his semester of teaching at Kent State and outside musical projects, December is a busy month for Jay White—a professor of voice in the Glauser School of Music. During the first weekend of the month, he conducted Quire Cleveland as artistic director in their return to live performance on a program called “Mary’s Song.” He then spent the second week with Apollo’s Fire, singing Handel’s Messiah in some of Cleveland’s and the surrounding community’s most beautiful concert venues. Earlier this week, he traveled to New York City as a member of the Apollo’s Singers to continue performing Messiah, this time with the New York Philharmonic. The performances, held in the Upper-West Side’s stunning Gothic-inspired Riverside Church and led by Jeannette Sorrell, started December 14 and continue through December 18.
