Progressive Insurance Company Data Center and Training Center

Progressive Insurance, headquartered in Cleveland suburb has 25,000 employees and is the third largest auto insurance group in the USA.  In 2001, they build their Ohio corporate data center to Tier IV standards, making it one of the first in Ohio.  The project cost $8 million, paralleling Switchgear 8000 kw Generator and 3000kw UPS with over 300,000 feet of 500-750 mcm cable.

Chicago Big Data Intersections Tour

This special 90-minute walking tour investigates how data is transforming how we plan, design and build cities. At several intersections in the Loop, view digital data visualizations and hear how this information is helping designers and citizens identify patterns that affect the health and happiness of the city. You'll also see examples of historic data and hear how architects like Daniel Burnham used data as well. Chicago is alive with data. From trashcans that alert sanitation workers when they need to emptied, to sensors that monitor building energy consumption, city operations rely on a steady flow of information. ‘Big Data’ refers to the volume, velocity and variety of the digital information we generate today. From information collected by urban sensors to Tweets, never before have cities generated so much data. Indiana University Virtualization Lab - Science on a Sphere

Indiana University is one of a select group of higher education institutions to be part of National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Science on a Sphere (SOS) community. SOS is a six-foot sphere illuminated by high-definition projectors and capable of displaying a wide range of data, including oceanographic, atmospheric, astronomical, political, and economic data.  Due to the extreme resolution capabilities of the IQ-Wall, it is an ideal platform for ultra-high resolution visualization research and experimentation.

NARRATED ECOLOGICAL TOUR

Students will experience the fast changing panorama of Cleveland’s skyline and exciting Flats area as you witness the many sights and little known historical facts about the city.  The ship will pass under several bridges while in the Cuyahoga River. Some of the bridges include B & O Jackknife Bridge, Eagle Avenue Vertical Lift/ Viaduct Bridge, Center Street Swing Bridge, Hope Memorial High Level Bridge, Columbus Road Vertical Lift Bridge, “Big Four” Vertical Lift Railroad Bridge. The Narrated tour will include narration about the Lake Erie and also the Cuyahoga River, providing you with information of Cleveland, past, present, and future.
