Dean Stocker Named to 2019 Crain’s Cleveland Notable Women in Education

Kent State University at Ashtabula Dean and Chief Administrative Officer Susan J. Stocker, Ph.D., is one of 30 local leaders named to Crain’s Cleveland Business’s Notable Women in Education list for 2019.
Honorees were selected for being “dedicated to creating and expanding learning opportunities for Northeast Ohioans of all ages, at all levels and in a host of fields. Their leadership, devotion and example are helping to shape a better future for our region and its people,” according to the publication.

Individuals were nominated by campus faculty, staff or community members and then reviewed by Crain’s editorial staff. The final list of selections was published July 1.

Dean Stocker was recognized for her over two decades of service and leadership on the Ashtabula Campus. Since being appointed dean in 2001, she has overseen record enrollment growth on the campus, in addition to major construction and renovation projects as well as the creation and addition of new academic programs targeted to meet the needs of the local community.

“Her leadership and strategic thinking have poised our campus to grow and develop programs that support our community and the individual careers of students that we serve to educate,” said Senior Program Director for Nursing and Allied Health Julie Senita, Ph.D. “Her passion for excellence and scholarship is evident in everything she is involved with, and this motivates all of us to want to excel in what we do here on campus.”
