EHHS grad Elena Marquetti-Ali, BS ’03, MPA ’05, Ashtabula, Ohio, was crowned Ms. Ohio Woman AmeriFest. She was also named the 2023 A.L.I.C.E. Community Service Award recipient for the state. Marquetti-Ali is a resident of Saybrook and serves as Board President for the United Way of Ashtabula County. 2023 Safety Conference

On Wednesday, April 19th, the Kent State University Precision Flight Team and the College of Aeronautics and Engineering hosted the 2023 Safety Conference. The Safety Conference brought together over 190 individuals from Kent State University, Bowling Green University, SkyQuest, Cleveland Air Traffic Control, Akron-Canton Air Traffic Control, and the Federal Aviation Administration for discussions and panels by industry professionals on topics encompassing aviation safety and proficiency. Lillian Kuri will lead the Cleveland Foundation as its 10th president and CEO, starting Aug. 1, 2023.

Lillian Kuri has been unanimously elected as the Cleveland Foundation’s 10th president and CEO. The Kent State University alumna, who grew up in Freedom Township in Portage County, will lead the 109-year-old foundation starting Aug. 1, 2023, succeeding retiring Ronn Richard. Currently serving as the Cleveland Foundation’s executive vice president and chief operating officer, Kuri will be the first woman to hold the president and CEO position on a full-time basis. University Inn fire

On Tuesday morning, a fire was reported at the University Inn, 540 S. Water St. in Kent. University officials sent out a text message warning residents to stay away from the area. The fire is believed to have broken out on the seventh floor, with two people transported to a local hospital for smoke inhalation. Academic Year 2023/24 Progress Report

During the 2023-2024 academic year we have continued moving forward with the re-design of the Kent Core. The Re-envisioning Kent Core Leadership Team has continued to provide oversight and input through each phase of this project. This academic year included the creation of the Model and Administrative Oversight Sprint teams. Additionally, the Budgetary Sub-committee also continued providing input to the overall re-design process. The following report documents the highlights of each of these teams as well as providing recommendations for the next steps in this process.
