John Logue, Professor of Political Science at Kent State University for over 30 years, was the founding director of the Ohio Employee Ownership Center at KSU. He was deeply committed to promoting economic democracy and saw employee ownership as a means to that end. In his memory, the John Logue Memorial Employee Ownership Scholarship was established.
The Dennis Sefert Endowed Scholarship is awarded to a Political Science major for tuition, fees, books and supplies. Dennis Sefert graduated from Kent State University in 1965 as a Political Science major with a Bachelors of Arts degree. The endowment was made after his death in 1999.
As a huge component within Kent State University’s Research Center for Educational Technology, the AT&T Classroom provides a unique K-12 research laboratory setting to study the potential of educational technologies and also serves as a K-12 outreach and professional development center for the region.
Augmented reality (AR) allows users (teachers & students) to easily create their own experiences and lessons. The creators made GLARE (GeoLocated Augmented Reality Editor), and open source and extensible AR platform hosted on Github. This platform utilizes overlaid imagery on live video feed using a hotspot and walking path design. The platform is designed to allow users to create tours by simply adding a media list and associated GPS coordinates.
In a published work by Kent State’s renowned Dr. Richard E. Ferdig, his findings include theoretical and empirical understandings of electronic games and computer-mediated simulations. The journal publishes research from fields and disciplines that share the goal of improving the foundational knowledge base of games and simulations.
Christopher J. Woolverton, Ph.D., Professor of Epidemiology in the College of Public Health, and Richard E. Ferdig, Ph.D., the Summit Professor of Learning Technologies and Professor of Educational Technology, worked on research that tests the filtration efficiency of various types of personal protective equipment.
