The Kent State Faculty/Staff Bowling League is now accepting new teams, members and substitute bowlers. Bowlers compete weekly on Monday evenings at 6:20 p.m. at Spins Bowl Kent (formerly Bill White’s Twinstar Lanes) on state Rt. 59 in Kent. The Faculty/Staff Bowling League is open to all full-time, part-time and retired employees, as well as their families and friends. The 2017-2018 Kent State bowling season begins Sept. 18 and continues through April 9, 2018. The cost is $14 a week. Kelvin Mancebo dreams of the day when he is an air traffic controller. As a senior at Kent State University, Mancebo is majoring in aeronautics with a minor in aircraft dispatch. He is an exceptional student who made the Dean’s List in 2015 and 2016, and the President’s List in 2016, all while playing on the Kent State baseball team. Sarah Smiley publishes "The Amazing Race" research in geography journal Kent State University at Salem Associate Professor Sarah Smiley, Ph.D., adopted a novel idea in teaching her geography class during the 2015 Fall Semester. The grand opening of Kent State University’s new Integrated Sciences Building will be held Sept. 15 from 2:30-5 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Following the ceremony, Kent State’s College of Arts and Sciences will host a reception and tours of the new building and renovated spaces in Cunningham, Smith and Williams halls, all part of a $95 million upgrade to the Science Mall. More than 500 Kent State University volunteers are preparing to welcome incoming freshmen to the Kent Campus tomorrow morning. Move-in day starts at 8 a.m. and runs through 7 p.m. Incoming freshman and their parents will have the opportunity to meet Kent State President Beverly Warren and the university cabinet members outside Eastway Center beginning at 9 a.m. Each year, volunteers with Movers and Groovers help students carry belongings to their new residence halls.
