“Sandy’s Scrapbook,” a new exhibition at Kent State University’s May 4 Visitors Center, pays tribute to the life of Sandy Scheuer.

Sandy Scheuer was on her way to class on May 4, 1970, when she was shot and killed by Ohio National Guardsmen responding to protests of the Vietnam War at Kent State University. She was a junior honors student, a speech therapy major and a proud member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority. Outside of the classroom, she was an alumna of Boardman High School in Ohio and an active member of the local Jewish community. Callie Mo is no ordinary high school senior. In addition to her coursework, she is designing a website and interning at IdeaBase, Kent State University’s student-powered design agency specializing in graphic design, web design, usability, branding, video and advertising. Mo attends Bio-Med, a new lottery-based science, technology, engineering, math and medical high school in Rootstown, Ohio.
