Join us for 35mm: A Musical Exhibition, the School of Theatre and Dance's Spring musical. This musical weaves together stories and songs inspired by the photography of Matthew Murphy, confirming that a picture is indeed worth 1,000 words. While the show is free to view, space is limited due to licensing restrictions.

Every year, the Kent State University School of Fashion’s Annual Fashion Show highlights and showcases the work and talents of Kent State Fashion students.

We're excited to announce that visionary global fashion designer and activist, Kenneth Cole, has been named as the Kent State University School of Fashion’s 2021 Hall of Fame Inductee. 

To commemorate the induction, Cole will give a talk, "Building a Global Fashion Brand, On Purpose" on Friday, April 30 at 6 p.m. EST. The virtual fireside chat will be moderated by Director and Professor of the School of Fashion, Dr. Louise Valentine. He will talk to his legacy in the fashion industry and the significant impact his work makes in social entrepreneurship.

Following the chat, will be the virtual live premier of the 2021 Annual Fashion Show at 7 p.m. EST.

Join Director Sarah J. Rogers as she looks at the personal stories of Coco Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld; the fictions, the myths and the facts. This talk is an introduction to the exhibition opening June 11 at the KSU Museum entitled ‘Forever Chanel: Coco + Karl.’ The exhibition of garments by both designers for the House of Chanel is primarily from the museum's collection and explores the elements behind a brand that has flourished for more than 100 years.

Dog Days of Summer with illustrated dogs

Did you know that at one point the beloved mascot of Kent State was a Golden Retriever ? Our love for dogs and Kent State go way back. You and your pup (s) are invited to join us for a dog walk around the Kent Campus. See what's new on campus while walking along a designated doggie route. We will have both a long and short walk so dogs of all ability can paw-ticipate! After the walk, dogs in attendance will be recognized with a degree in Barkology. 

If you can't make it to campus for Dog Days of Summer, you can still join in on the fun virtually by taking your dog for a walk on Saturday, Aug. 7. Share your photos on social media by tagging #FlashesForever and #FlashesFurever. 

In Person Cost: $10 for each furry friend (This fee includes dog treats, a special gift for your pup, snacks and a $5 donation to the Kent State Police Department's K-9 Program Fund. All donations directly support K-9s Coco and Dexter, helping with necessary training, equipment, food and medical care.)

All dogs should be updated on vaccinations, have on their rabies tag and must be on a leash. Please be courteous and bring waste bags with you to clean up after your pet. Use good judgment regarding the temperament of your pet so the event will be enjoyable for everyone.

In order to participate, each pet owner must sign a waiver. Waivers can be downloaded and completed in advance to expedite the on-site registration process. Extra copies will be available the day of the walk.

Encompassing over two centuries of fashion history, this exhibition is designed to show the evolution of styles and silhouettes while contextualizing the pieces with relevant political, technological and cultural developments.

"The Hepburn Style: Katharine and her Designers" is now on display at the Kent State University Museum. Throughout the exhibition, you will see the elements of comfort, movement and proportion represented in Katharine Hepburn’s fashion choices and in the costumes she wore.

The Kent State University Museum is pleased to announce its winter exhibition, “Hildur Ásgeirsdóttir Jónsson: Micro/Macro,” a solo exhibition by Ohio-based artist, Hildur Ásgeirsdóttir Jónsson. Consistent with the museum’s mission to showcase exceptional textile art and to inspire the next generation of artists, the exhibition includes over 30 large-scale works by Kent State alumna Jónsson.

The exhibition is curated by Sara Hume, Ph.D. and will be open to the public from Friday, January 24 through August 3, 2025. A public opening reception and artist talk will be held on Thursday, January 23 at 5 p.m. at the museum.

This exhibition is sponsored by Ken Robinson. The Kent State University Museum receives operating support through a sustainability grant from the Ohio Arts Council.

Peace Mural

Join us for the unveiling of an original peace mural created by BzTat and Friends for the School of Peace and Conflict Studies at Kent State University. The opening of the exhibit will take place at 11:00am on Thursday, May 1, 2025. It will begin with remarks at the Center for Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement (IAB 103). Following this, the artists will reveal the mural via livestream, and light refreshments will be served in celebration of the artists. Afterward, guests can join us across Lincoln Street at the SPCS offices (McGilvrey 113) to view the mural in-person and enjoy dessert.

BzTat and Friends is an artist collective led by Canton artist Vicki Boatright and featuring students from a Stark County Educational Service Center course taught by Jay Liedel. The mural is a collaborative original design inspired by an ongoing relationship that began with an SPCS Masters-level peace education course.

55 years ago, Kent State students buried a copy of the constitution to protest the expansion of the Vietnam War into Cambodia. To commemorate, we will gather on the K to discuss the continued presence and importance of student protest on our campus, then march peacefully to Taylor Hall and the rock on front campus.

Our speaker this year is Representative Derrick Hall, who serves in the Ohio House of Representatives representing House District 34, which includes Hudson, Stow, Tallmadge, Silver Lake, Munroe Falls, and portions of Akron.

DI Day is our annual celebration of innovation, creativity, and collaboration at Kent State University. This showcase highlights the groundbreaking projects and achievements of our DI Nodes, DI Fellows, DI Hub members, and partners—demonstrating the power of interdisciplinary problem-solving. Join us to explore hands-on exhibits, engage with innovators, and experience the impact of design innovation in action. Whether you're a student, faculty, industry partner, or community member, DI Day is your chance to be inspired and connect with the future of innovation! The evening will include a pinning ceremony (4:00pm-4:30pm) and a building-wide showcase of DI projects throughout the DI Hub (4:30pm-6:30pm).

Join us for an engaging textile discussion bringing together all four current exhibiting textile artists at the KSU Museum for an insightful conversation on their creative practices, inspirations and the evolving landscape of textile art. Moderated by curator Sara Hume, the panel offers a unique opportunity to hear directly from the artists advancing the textile field.

The talk will take place in the museum’s Higbee Gallery from 5 to 6 p.m. Students, faculty, staff, and guests are welcome. Free parking is available in the adjacent Rockwell Hall lot, and the program is free for all.
