Melnik earns the President's Award of Distinction

For demonstrating exceptional performance in advancing the university’s strategic goals, Kent State University at Trumbull’s instructional designer, Sean Melnik, has earned the President's Award of Distinction.

Kent State President Beverly Warren presented the award to Melnik last week in front of faculty and staff. Kathy Dwinnels, associate professor and Nursing Coordinator, nominated him for the award.

“Sean is an outstanding asset to our campus,” said Dwinnels. ”His knowledge and expertise have been extremely beneficial for everyone, and he is always available, pleasant, and willing to work on any project.”

Melnik frequently offers seminars and group sessions to educate faculty on learning techniques that enable faculty to teach within a learning environment consisting of a diverse student population.

The President's Award of Distinction, formerly the President's Excellence Award, was created as a recognition program to reward staff members who have demonstrated outstanding achievements, service, leadership, and dedication to Kent State in advancing the university's strategic priorities and core values. The award is given to only ten staff members campus-wide each year.

“It was a real surprise,” said Melnik. “I enjoy what I do and I work with great people. So this award means a great deal to me.”
