Yanhai Du, Ph.D., College of Aeronautics and Engineering professor, has been working with an interdisciplinary research team to develop a hybrid fuel cell battery/capacitor. This fuel cell is the first to have been developed for commercial unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), such as drones. Kent State University has been awarded $1.5 million from the state of Ohio for the Choose Ohio First program that supports students in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
