Each year, hundreds of Kent State University Golden Flashes gather across the globe to make a difference in their communities. Kent State alumni and friends have the opportunity to participate in the 10th annual Alumni Day of Service on Saturday, April 21.

Each year, hundreds of Kent State University Golden Flashes gather across the globe to make a difference in their communities. Kent State alumni and friends have the opportunity to participate in the 10th annual Alumni Day of Service on Saturday, April 21.

Sponsored by the Kent State Alumni Association, Alumni Day of Service provides opportunities for Kent State alumni, friends and family to give back by participating in local volunteer projects while strengthening ties with fellow members of the Kent State community.

The Kent State University Alumni Association is seeking nominations for the Alumni Awards. These awards recognize graduates in the area of leadership, service, character and professional development.

“The alumni association is proud to recognize notable, accomplished graduates,” said Lori Randorf, assistant vice president of alumni relations at Kent State. “These awards not only bring distinction to the alumni who receive them, but also to the university as they showcase the contributions Kent State graduates make to their professions and society.”

Kent State University celebrated the grand opening of its new Center for Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement, located at 350 S. Lincoln St. in Kent, Ohio, on June 3. The event, was free and open to the public.

Community members as well as Kent State University faculty, staff, alumni and students are all invited to attend the Faculty Lecture Series, hosted by the Kent State Alumni Association, from March 30 through May 3. Free and open to the public, the events span disciplines from all eight Kent State campuses.

Marquita Rodgers, program coordinator of alumni relations at Kent State, says the Faculty Lecture Series was created in 2013 to showcase the interests, research and academic talents of the university’s faculty.

This year's Homecoming was a rainy, fun-filled weekend of events that included the Homecoming Parade, Kiss on the K and a football win against the Miami RedHawks, 20-14. This year’s Homecoming featured Kent State alumnus and Super Bowl champion Julian Edelman as the Parade Grand Marshal.
