The Heimat String Quartet had their Carnegie Hall debut on Monday, March 4. They presented Mozart’s String Quartet No. 14 in G Major, Dvorak’s String Quartet No. 14 in Ab major, Op. 105, and premiered a newly commissioned work by composer Anthony Vine. Founding members of the quartet, violinists Aubrey Holmes and Patrick Shaughnessy, graduated from Kent State with their MM in Performance in 2017.

Each year, hundreds of Kent State University Golden Flashes gather across the globe to make a difference in their communities. Kent State alumni and friends have the opportunity to participate in the 10th annual Alumni Day of Service on Saturday, April 21.

Sponsored by the Kent State Alumni Association, Alumni Day of Service provides opportunities for Kent State alumni, friends and family to give back by participating in local volunteer projects while strengthening ties with fellow members of the Kent State community.

University hosts its annual Homecoming celebration on Oct. 14

Ben Curtis and Candace Curtis will return to their alma mater to serve as the Homecoming Parade Grand Marshals at Kent State University’s annual Homecoming on Oct. 14.   

Four Kent State University alumni were honored on Friday, Sept. 22, at the School of Communication Studies Alumni Awards & Reception in Taylor Hall. The event was part of the College of Communication and Information's celebration of Taylor Hall's reopening, Sept. 21 - 23, 2017.

Three distinct awards are given at the annual celebration:

The Kent State University Alumni Association is seeking nominations for the Alumni Awards. These awards recognize graduates in the area of leadership, service, character and professional development.

“The alumni association is proud to recognize notable, accomplished graduates,” said Lori Randorf, assistant vice president of alumni relations at Kent State. “These awards not only bring distinction to the alumni who receive them, but also to the university as they showcase the contributions Kent State graduates make to their professions and society.”
