Kent State University’s Trumbull and Tuscarawas campuses are celebrating National Veterinary Technician Week, Oct. 12–18, by partnering with local animal shelters to promote dog adoptions during National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month.

Veterinary technology students at both campuses will spotlight adoptable dogs from the Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County and the Humane Society of Tuscarawas County on campus social media platforms.
“Our students are so excited to give these dogs some extra promotion,” said Melissa Best, MSN, RN, RVT, director of the Veterinary Technology Program at Kent State Trumbull. “Some of them have been here for over a year, and they deserve a loving home.”
The initiative aims to raise awareness about long-term shelter dogs while giving students hands-on experience in animal care and community outreach. It also pays tribute to veterinary technicians — the backbone of animal health care — who are highly skilled, deeply compassionate and often under-recognized.
The social media campaign will run Oct. 12–18 on Facebook, Instagram (@kenttrumbull, @ksutusc) and LinkedIn.
