Study abroad helps our students build a better community

My thanks to all of you for your continued support of the vital work of our campus. With your efforts and resources, we are indeed building a better community by providing high-quality higher education to those who, but for us, would not have that chance. With your help, we change lives and make the world a better place.

This year’s Giving Tuesday is a unique opportunity to support our students and create experiences that will last a lifetime. Students who study abroad gain valuable new perspectives, which they bring back to our communities. Research also shows that students who go overseas as part of their education are more likely to graduate, bringing those perspectives into our workforce. In reporting on her trip to Poland in 2019, one Kent State Trumbull student noted, “This trip to Poland was not just life-changing, it was inspiring. It inspired me to continue my aspiration of making an impact on the world around me….”

One of the primary reasons students give for not pursuing a study abroad program is cost. Given that the median household income for Trumbull County is roughly 30% lower than the national and 18% lower than the state median, the expenses attached to this high-impact experience can discourage some who stand to benefit the most from pursuing the opportunity.

Please consider supporting this year’s focus fund, Kent State Trumbull Study Away/Abroad. With your commitment, we continue to offer learning experiences that help our students make our community a better place.
