Professor Thacker received his Business Administration undergraduate degree, emphasizing both marketing and management, from Cedarville University in 1986. After graduation, he began a career with the K-Mart Corporation where he served in several managerial and marketing positions. He held these positions at the store, regional, and corporate level. Professor Thacker then moved onto a marketing manager’s position with a local wholesale distribution company, staying for eighteen years. While there, he completed his advanced Marketing degree at Kent State University. In 1998, Don began as an adjunct professor of Marketing but later joined the faculty as a full-time member at Kent State University at Stark campus in August 1999.
Presently, Professor Thacker teaches a wide variety of marketing classes across the entire Marketing degree program at the Kent State University Stark Campus. He focuses his efforts on creating understanding and application of marketing concepts in his students. He continues work on different marketing and consulting projects with a variety of local, corporate international companies and non-profit clientele. His activities often result in customized programs or solutions to assist organizations with strategic market planning and development.
